Who is he?

Dries Depoorter is a Belgian digital artist who specialises in taking data and information technology and turning them into captivating digital products and experiences. His surprising and humorous — and sometimes controversial — work has been featured in Wired, Techcrunch, VICE, Washington Post, BBC, The Verge and a long list of other international publications. As a consultant, he has developed digital concepts for clients like Amazon, Nivea and Carlsberg.

Why are we collaborating with him?

Dries’ modus operandi is to find playful ways of addressing serious and substantial topics like surveillance, death and human wellbeing. Through his novel and humorous approach to digital concepts, his work always seems to reach a wider audience than one would expect, given the subject matter. We see Dries as the perfect designer to conceptualise use cases for trucking data that are original, unconventional and valuable for truck drivers.

What are we collaborating with him on?

Truck data are almost always used for the benefit of whoever owns the trucks; whether that’s for truck maintenance, logistical coordination or driver monitoring. Dries is approaching the same data from a different angle — to create a series of new concepts for how technology and the data collected in the trucks could be used to improve the health and wellbeing of their drivers.
